Camping Park Umag: the extraordinary simplicity of Istria

If there’s one thing I particularly like about this region of Croatia it is its surprising simplicity. You have the beauty of the coast, the charm of the inland, which consists of roads running through vineyards and olive groves on a red soil, low stone walls and rural buildings meant for the animals. You are not going to expect extraordinary things from Istria, because such simplicity, which they’ve been able to preserve over time, is already extraordinary. We discovered this piece of Croatia while staying in one of the best campsites in the area: Park Umag in Novigrad, whose Italian name is Cittanova before traveling to Caorle. Park Umag: a campsite by the sea Call it campsite or call it village, this large facility is one of the most beautiful of the Istrian coast. It has plenty of space, therefore you will never feel like there is a crowd, which can happen when you are in smaller campsites, especially during high season. It develops on a slight slope that extends to the sea along a …

Caorle old city center

Camping Village in Caorle

If we had to say that we have a second home, we would surely be referring to this place. We have been there so many times, but camping in Caorle is something we still had to try. During our visits we have got to know all of its facets, from the naturalistic aspects that can be found in the lagoon or in the Brussa beach – where you can discover the historic big houses of the fishermen, entirely made with reeds – to the more mundane aspect belonging to the historic centre, where culture and tradition mix with shopping and with the desire for good food. In Caorle, over the last years, we have known fantastic people who took us by the hand and led us to discover the pearls of their own place. We go back there at least once a year, it is one of those places to be loved, where every time is like the first time, also because there is always something new to discover, some new experiences that will live …

Les Mediterranees Beach Garden

With the last stage of our Vacansoleil Family Tour we went quite west along the southern French coast. We reached the region of Languedoc-Roussillon, going beyond Nice and Marseille, and we stopped on the coastline of Marseillan, a long stretch of sea characterized by a beautiful sandy beach overlooking the Mediterranean. It is a tourist region, mainly flat with some wet stretches of lagoon behind. Along the coast there are several campsites and tourist villages, and behind them there are shops and clubs; the first impression is that of a classic seaside resort, a place for flip flops, flowered caps and bags. Is there anything better in summer? Is this the garden of Eden? Les Mediterranees Beach Garden is more similar to a botanical garden than a campsite. As soon as you get there you are left gaping because of how carefully they keep the numerous green areas of the village. Plants of all kinds, even tropical ones, with extraordinary flowers, and palm trees, bamboos, bougainvilleas, we could jokingly say that it’s a little Eden …

A weekend in a holiday farm between Umbria and Tuscany

The Chiana Valley (Val di Chiana) marks the natural boundary between Umbria and Tuscany, a long green valley enclosing hills and villages of extraordinary beauty. Among these hills rich in olive trees, we have chosen the holiday farm Borgo Giorgione to spend a special weekend, tucked away in nature in Monteleone d’Orvieto, just a 5 minute drive from Città della Pieve. It is kind of a cottage with a park and a pool, in a small hamlet composed of three historic buildings completely renovated preserving the rural style but tastefully furnished with a mix of modern and country style. Four flats of large dimensions which can accommodate 4 to 6 people, perfect for a family or even for a group of families wanting to share a holiday through these magic hills while preserving their privacy. There is a fenced parkland surrounding the facility and a large pool with hydromassage tub allowing you to relax, maybe while the children are playing in water. What to do on a weekend in a holiday farm between Umbria and …

A wide green valley: Hall Wattens in Tirol

A wide green valley encircled by high mountains and crossed by the river Inn, the same stream that gives the name to the capital of the Austrian Tyrol. This is Hall Wattens, a marvelous destination surrounded by nature, which we have discovered through a long weekend of early May. Snow-clad peaks, perfect meadows, cows out to pasture, high steeples and embattled towers, in addition to that sensation of perfection permeating the landscape. This is how the region of Hall Wattens immediately welcomed us. Attractions and experiences in the region of Hall Wattens Making bread in a farm As soon as we got there we immediately started our engines! The local tourism authority organized a nice experience for all of us tourists: a trip to a farm, to make bread the old-fashioned way, using a wood-fired oven and doing everything by hand. Giulia likes cooking and once we had put our aprons on, we (all 4 of us) started to knead with water, flour, yeast, various pips, so as to realize loaves of the typical dark …
