With the last stage of our Vacansoleil Family Tour we went quite west along the southern French coast. We reached the region of Languedoc-Roussillon, going beyond Nice and Marseille, and we stopped on the coastline of Marseillan, a long stretch of sea characterized by a beautiful sandy beach overlooking the Mediterranean.
It is a tourist region, mainly flat with some wet stretches of lagoon behind. Along the coast there are several campsites and tourist villages, and behind them there are shops and clubs; the first impression is that of a classic seaside resort, a place for flip flops, flowered caps and bags. Is there anything better in summer?
Is this the garden of Eden?
Les Mediterranees Beach Garden is more similar to a botanical garden than a campsite. As soon as you get there you are left gaping because of how carefully they keep the numerous green areas of the village. Plants of all kinds, even tropical ones, with extraordinary flowers, and palm trees, bamboos, bougainvilleas, we could jokingly say that it’s a little Eden resembling a campsite, so much are well-kept the aesthetic appearance and the green areas in general.
However, this French sea destination is also an excellent campsite, starting from its pools. A large water park with many pools with different depths, ranging from those for younger kids to those where you can swim freely, and you have chutes for kids and non-kids, little waterfalls and hydromassages. A lot of space with sunbeds and small wooden gazebos to protect you from the sun. All very well-kept in this special pool area, there are only two little rules that must be followed: you have to leave your shoes and pool slippers outside and you can’t wear shorts as a swimming costume, at most you can wear swim trunks, provided that they are close-fitting, and absolutely no cargo shorts.
The sandy beach borders the campsite, and you can access it thanks to a magnetic bracelet that lets you open a small gate. The beach is free, not too crowded, quite wide and it overlooks a nice transparent sea where having a bathe is unavoidable. Within the campsite you can make use of a small supermarket, although with a ten minute drive you can easily reach a shopping centre that includes various supermarkets and other stores; in our case, we have shopped for clothes. We have found the internal bakery very useful to buy fresh-baked brioches and baguettes in the morning, a standing appointment for us just before having breakfast.
Glamping in France
For our holiday in France we opted for a mobile home of the glamping type. These are small mobile homes that completely resemble small luxury villas. The unit is characterized by a large living space with kitchen, a double bedroom with a large shower, a washbasin in a living area and a separate WC. On the other side there are the room for children and kids, with three beds including a bunk bed, and a directly communicating WC-bathroom. The spaces are perfectly suitable for a four person family like ours, but also for a family with five persons, why not!
The terrace with patio is extraordinary, the tropical-style vegetation makes it unique and the same holds true in general with regard to its modern style, well taken care of with attention to details, even with regard to the internal accessories like tableware and dishes, which are clearly at the disposal of the guests. We ate out various times but the most beautiful moment was that of our breakfast, being all together, with the first rays of sun and a pleasing temperature to make that moment of the day particularly special.
We fell in love, I would say we almost lost ourselves in that little house which offers a good amount of privacy and comfort. At the same time it is situated within a campsite, with the services and the security that this type of destination guarantees; when we are traveling with our children it is usually one of the solutions we prefer. Air conditioning, suitable internal spaces, accessories such as microwave oven and fridge-freezer, and then the closeness of the beach and of the pool area. We spent beautiful days in our glamping mobile home at Les Mediterranees Beach Garden, where we parents relaxed and our children enjoyed much amusement. It is a kind of vacation that we would like to experience again, maybe in another destination again there in France.
More than a campsite
When you stay at Les Mediterranees Beach Garden you can also make use of the pools of the two nearby campsites, which belong to the same property. A good advantage, so each day can be different and getting bored becomes almost impossible, you just have to take a few more steps. We have tried the pools of Camping Nouvelle, which have chutes as well and various pools with different depths, and their hydromassages are fabulous. Besides, in both this pool and that of our camping, sunbeds are included, so you don’t have to shell out more money to stay at the poolside, a good advantage!
Les Mediterranees Beach Garden is a small family paradise, like these nice campings in Italy.
